MallowDramatic...yummy

Okay, I went back and edited the meme. I'm happier with it now, in fact, considering question #37, I'm much happier with it. So much so, that I'm asking that you go down and read it, just for my enjoyment. Please?

Melodramatic is Anything But

Wow, I just finished reading through my last post... man that's one melodramatic meme. Still, I don't feel like changing it. Maybe a picture will make it up to you guys. (to view it full size, just left click on it, and drag it up to the tab bar)

Yet another OC of mine, a certain Kaman Garth. Kam here is kind, sweet, and if you turn your back on him you're liable to find that all your cookies have mysteriously disappeared. Unless you have those disgusting raisin ones. Ugh. I don't even know why they make those. I mean, seriously, no one likes raisins. Oh, wait, you do? So its all your fault!!! You fiend!
*cough*
What? Sorry, I was channeling him for a second there.

Well, You Can't Argue With Tradition!

THE TRADITIONAL END OF YEAR MEME:

1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
I wrote a 50000+ word novel (nanowrimo) I went to high school, got confirmed and I preformed on stage(and with spectacular results at that!). I was also hit in the face with a skillet.

2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Bah! I never keep them. For more on this question, see the post below this one

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
nope. Last year there were quite a few babies, but none this year

4. Did anyone close to you die?
our dog, Sophie. A moment of silence if you please.

5. What countries did you visit?
None. My dad wanted to visit Ireland again, but it just wasn’t going to happen

6. What would you like to have in 2010 which you lacked in 2009?
A finished novel that I am pleased with, a non-buggy computer, initiative, motivation, and some type of music playing device. Oh, and possibly a Muse. Right now I have a Motivation, and though I think a Muse would be nice, he tells me that Muses are only for people who can’t be creative themselves. I’m not sure if I believe him though, I think he’s just jealous.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched in your memory, and why?
Umm…I don’t know about dates, but when I went to DC with some classmates and teachers, especially that one night when we were flying back home and I was just SO hyper and having so much fun.
The day of the Odyssey of the Mind tournament, which was one of the most amazing days of my life.
The end of school bonfire me and my friends held—also amazing

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Good grades on my finals, 50K in November, getting up off my lazy bum and doing something about my problems, and starting to write again

9. What was your biggest failure?
I don’t like the way my NaNo novel turned out, though namely I’d say the Black’s Forest was the biggest failure overall. I realize what I could have done/can do now to make it better, but I don’t feel like picking it up now, especially at this time of year

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really. I don’t get sick very often

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Oh, lets see, I know this, uh…

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Almost everybody who I know. Friends, family, myself, the voices in my head. You guys all get a pat on the back.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Quite a few people, who I shall not further shame by listing here. internet shaming is just petty. I mean, I am petty, but I won't stoope to that level

14. Where did most of your money go?
NCYC and everybody’s Christmas presents

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
NCYC, Christmas, NaNo, CYC, visiting my Aunt for a week, school getting out, and Halloween, among other things

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
…I’m not sure…

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: Happier or sadder? Thinner or fatter? Richer or poorer?
I am much happier than I was last year
I am neither thinner, nor fatter (but I’m much taller)
And I am richer as well.
Nicccccccccccccce.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Writing, though I’m happy I’ve begun again at all

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Wallowing, fretting, hating, complaining, and generally wasting time.

20. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
I have no idea. I’m never on the phone. Caitlin maybe? Mom? I’m not sure.

OH! I know, Danny! Good ‘ol Danny…

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Pfft. Naw

22. What was your favorite TV program?
Corner Gas, same as last year, only this year it got canceled. Luckily, my dad’s started getting Netflix, and so we have a couple seasons

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?.
-growl- yeeeeeeessssssssssss >:C

24. What was the best book(s) you read?
I DON’T KNOW, ALRIGHT??!?!? –ahem- sorry ‘bout that. Heh.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Abney Park.
Last year I actually started listening to music, this year I developed preferences. Who knows what 2010 will hold o3o

26. What did you want and get?
A top hat, out of middle school, good scores on my finals, 50K in 30 days, black furry boots of doom and other slightly clichéd, Armageddon-esque concepts, Edge-Up, tarot cards, wint-o-green mints, and a lot of other stuff, this is just what comes to mind

27. What did you want and not get?
A music playing device. That’s really the only non-completely-trivial thing I can think of. More Mints too. I think I may buy some tomorrow, but then my family will tease me for eating an entire bag so quickly. Everyone deserves a vice.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?
oh, there were a bunch…I’m gonna have to say either the Secret Life of Bees, and Back to the future, I, II, and III

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old did you turn?
14 (so old! Gasp!) and I went on a long car ride to an unfamiliar city and wallowed for a short period of time and got ice cream and Mama Mia! Tickets and a book and then we went to a baseball game with my dad’s friends. For my party (though there wasn’t really one) I saw Mama Mia! With my friend Andi, and my parents.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If (almost) everyone in my German class weren’t complete lackwits and worse at the same time. If I had finished my nano novel. If certain events had not taken place at a certain place during that certain time. If fencing had not ceased to bring joy and all sorts of other amazing wonderment. If I had had more epic (and I, unlike the rest of my demographic subcategory, don’t use that word lightly) dreams. If Tim hadn’t gone to a different high school. If my dog, Sophie hadn’t died. If I had sprouted enormous (yet retractable) feathery wings (or bat wings. Either/or really) and had somehow been able to fly with them. If my hair wasn’t so static-y. If my hair wasn’t weirdly thick in weird places. If mchsi hadn’t completely redone their entire design, thus forcing me to get a new email account on a far inferior (from what mchsi used to be) server. (no offence) Oh, sorry, did you say one? 030

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
A bit grungy, a bit dark, a bit eccentric, and an attempt at steampunk. And a dislike of shoes for some reason.
What I’m wearing right now is a good example.
Black/dark jeans – dark
Oversized shirt with pictures of cats dressed like astronauts that I’ve had for at least 7/8 years – eccentric/grunge(hey, I only said a bit grungy)
Fluffy electric blue striped socks- eccentric
No shoes- odd and unexplainable shoe grudge
I also own a top hat and a pocket watch.
*at this point in time, it has become apparent that Lokii has no personal fashion concept, 2009 or otherwise*
Oh, AND fun word Iearned form the person I got this from: Quaintrelle.
Isn’t it wonderful? It is the female equivalent of a dandy. I’m not sure if it applies, but I love the word.

32. What kept you sane?
-cocks head- I was never sane to begin with my hoptoads

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None, though I realized that my liking of Gerard Butler in 6th/7th grade was due to his name only

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
Gay marriage. It just shouldn’t even be an issue. I’m not going to go into anything here, I’m not politically minded at all, but it’s disappointing to me how same sex marriage is seen as so bad that they have had the idiocy to illegalize it places. It saddens me that there is so much blatant bigotry going on that law itself had been bent to allow these biased people more than just an opinion, it really does.
Then again, this year there was talk of legalizing marijuana, as long as you’re not smoking it. Excuse me as I go burn a few more shreds of what’s left of my respect for the interworking of the legal system.
Fortunately, I have a backup plan in case everything fails. It is to move to Canada. You may join me there, so long as I like you.

35. Whom did you miss?
Tim and Sophie

36. Who was the best new person you met?
OHGOSHSOMANY. There are so many, I'm not even going to try to list them. It would have been a tie between Ryan and Jamie, but I like Jamie better. 0#0 Sorry Ryan.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson(s) you learned in 2009.
Actually, I have quite a few.

THEY SAID 'NEVER SAY NEVER!' SO...ALWAYS REMEMBER, NEVER:
-use a stuffed bunny as a weapon
-step in a wood chipper
-throw a skillet
-dodge a skillet
-reveal what is on page 329
-Serenade your best friend with a rendition of "Georgia"
-go to the bathroom in sin
-Cross an elephant's heart
-forget that staircases are not solids
-try to explain sarcasm to an Icelandic Gentleman
-Try to teach Lokii to juggle
-found 'Caucasian-Lund'
- Forget Dylan
- position yourself directly beneath a spider
-sit on a cactus
-call the number in an anchovy tim
-drop a doorknob on your toe
-take a nap in The Box
- Sissy-slap in The Box
-put things that don't belong to you in your mouth
-Miss the chance to have a hostage situation with a backpack
-Underestimate a plastic butterfly
-Trust the early recruits with liquids
-Lick a doorknob (Schvick Uden will grant you wishes)
-Expect an outsider (that means you, the person reading this shirt) to understand this list

WORDS TO LIVE BY. And yes, this list was made into a fabulous shirt

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
“And it's funny how you find you enjoy your life/when you're happy to be alive”~ High of 75 by Relient K, as melodramatic as it is.
Also the entireity of Bohemian Rapsody by Queen and 'We are the Pirates who don't do anything' the one sung by larry though. Though Relient K is good, they left out lyrics.

And a Happy New Year!

Here’s hoping your 2010 (it feels so weird to have that ‘1’ there) is safe, happy, and healthy. Mine too of course :D

Has anyone else made a new year’s resolution? I made one last year, but…it didn’t work out. Aside from the fact that I’m never able to keep them anyway, this one kind of crashed and burned. Badly. We’re talking 2nd degree burns people. I really shouldn’t, but I can’t resist. I’ve resolved to (as of now) be more motivated in this 2010 especially about writing.

That’s it…niccccccee and vague. –evil grin- Perfect.

And now, because, well, because I want to, and technically speaking this is actually writing. It’s still kinda procrastination, but in a way it can be called ‘character development’…wait a minute.

I’M MAKIN’ A MEME! WOO!
Oh, and I should probably tell you what it is too.

So now, (drum-roll please) here’s the resolutions my some of my characters would make. :D Let’s see who can keep theirs ;):

Faintly Macabre:

Rachel Garza: I resolve to…I dunno, be more decisive. Yes. No. Wait. No, I kid, I kid. Uh, lessee, I resolve to be less impulsive. Think about the consequences of things before I do stupid stuff. Then I’ll do the stupid stuff :D

Lenora Garza: You know Rachel, just because you parents are ghosts doesn’t mean we want you to be too -shakes head- I guess it’s a start. I resolve to get things done around the house more. Be more motivated in the things I do. I’m going to stop wasting time, and that way I’ll have more time for myself :)

Russ Garza: Oh wow, you actually had one before, didn’t you… hrm, I guess I resolve to stop scaring the, uh, sherbet out of drunks whenever I see them go by. Just when they annoy me.

Lenora: -rolling eyes- honestly, you two…

Warren Holloway: I, uh, I guess I resolve to be more…sociable..? Oh, and get better with working with things with triple synchronized pistons*. Or get better. Actually, you know, I think I’ll just do that.

Becah Nightshade: Do I really have to do this? Ugh, I guess maybe I should resolve to be more…tactful? Aw, **** it. It’ll never work…

Marla Sorenson: I’ll smile. Or laugh. Or, oh, I don’t know, do something cheerful. How about a joke?

Becah: For some reason I know I’m going to regret this but sure. Shoot.

Marla: Alright, alright, um, lets see, what goes ‘scratch, scratch, pop’?

Becah: You got me, what?

Marla: A kitten in a pottery kiln! :D

Becah: … D8

Everyone else: …D8 …

Demon Lord Foreii: -falls over laughing-

Marla: oh screw this…

The Grim Reaper: I resolve to try to improve my memory so I can make sure none of my loved ones are swindled into any more fiendish plots because I forgot to do something. Mind you, it’ll be a bit hard considering I CAN’T EVEN FREAKING REMEMBER HOW OLD I AM AND THEY WON’T LET ME DIE BECAUSE I’M APPARENTLY ‘DEATH ITSELF’ AND…( goes off on a rant )

Marla: Great. Well now you got him started. You’ve got to remember, he’s basically an old man (albeit one with a lot of upper arm strength) who’s been denied grand children for a bit too long and who can’t physically die. It’s a bit frustrating, as you can imagine. I’ll bet it’s bad for him too.**

Foreii, Demon of the Final Sentence: I guess I should resolve to be less dramatic. At least when I’m doing important things. And maybe I should check out Peter’s Evil Overlord list too…

Plot: I pwomis to exist! ***

One of the General Concepts: -sheepishly-Yeah, I promise I’ll try to be less like Bleach. It’s not intentional, I swear!

Oh, and because it’s a meme I have to add instructions:
Take the cast of characters from one WIP (work in progress) that you have. List them and what their new year’s resolutions would be/are:
see above
Okay, now this is the place where most memes say ‘tag some people’, but I’ve always hated that part, so instead, I want you to make up some reason why you can’t be bothered to tag people. Make it good too. If you want to do it, then please, go ahead.

*I am not mechanically minded whatsoever. I have no idea what triple synchronized pistons are, or even if they exist or are hard to work with. Pleasedonteatme.

** The Grim Reaper is Marla’s boss.

*** Yes, my plot has a speech impediment. Do you have a problem with that? No, really, do you? We’re taking a poll.

Memelishious

I love memes. They are nature (or the Internets) perfect procrastination tool for writers and artist. I can put off shoveling the driveway (this is like the third time too. Every time we get it cleared off it snows again. My love of winter remains though) and call it character development. Wonderful.

So, Warren…
1) What gender are you?

A boy. 0_o isn’t is obvious?

2) What is your age?
about 15, though I would be wrong

3) Do you want a hug?
-suspicious look- that depends on who you are…

4) Do you have any bad habits?
-shrug- Everyone does. Personally, I chew my nails and forget to take care of my scythe every night

5) What is your favorite food?
hmm, that’s a hard one…I’d have to say apple pie.

6) What is your favorite ice-cream flavor?
ice what?

7) Are you a virgin?
-mildly offended- I’m fifteen, lackwit, of course I am. I know in your world or time or whatever people are haveing kids when they're eleven, but here we tend to keep our pants on. -thinks back to reaper company christmas party- well, at least I do.

8) Have you killed anyone?
(Lokii- oh boy, get ready for a rant…)
Well, er, I’ve never actually killed someone, well not really, I mean, they’re already dead…I’m just helping to detach their soul’s from the earth so they can go to the afterlife. But, then there are also the people who try to cheat death, and them, I mean, they’ve already died…I’m just helping nature take its course. Usually killing is a direct violation of nature, but if you’re coming back from the dead, than that’s just as much of a violation, and so when I, uh, well, kill them I guess, again, well, there isn’t a moral discrepancy attached. So I guess I’ve killed a few people, but I wasn’t doing anything horrible by it.

9) Do you hate anyone?
not really. Should I? I mean, there are a bunch of people I don’t like, but, and not to sound cliche, but when you think about it, hate actually is a strong word

10) Do you have any secrets?
none that I’m going to tell you –sticks out tongue-

11) What is your favorite season?
Autumn. I love it. Everything is really beautiful, the bugs start disappearing, and there’s All Hallow’s Eve. One top of that, reapers are required to wear black for some God forsaken reason, and in Autumn it finely gets cool enough that we’re not fainting all over the place

12) Who is your best friend(s)?
Uh, Rachel Garza

13) What are your hobbies?
Reading, making things, tinkering, and a little bit of tomfoolery

14) What is your favorite drink?
-shrug- spiced cider is always good.

15) When is your birthday?
August 18th. I think.

16) What age did you die?
uh, I’m not dead yet…

17) Are you nice or mean?
I’d say I’m nice, but there could be people out there who think that I’m mean. It’s all relative really

18) Are you social or shy?
shy?

19) What do you think of your parents?
I don’t have parents. When I was little I and my parents were in an awful train wreck. They died. Becah Nightshade, she’s another reaper, but she’s older than me, came around to see if there were any souls that needed help of ghosts that were going to cause trouble and she found me. I somehow hadn’t died, I was pretty beat up though, and I could see the ghosts.*(*note, in this world, about 30% of people can see ghosts. It’s a genetic thing) Stamina and the ability to see spirits are the two main requirements to be a reaper, and so with no were else to go (or so she says. She could have always just left me at a hospital) she brought me back to Marla and Grimm and so they said that Becah might as well train me. Becah’s more like an older sister really though, the closest things I have to parents are Mr. and Mrs. Garza

20) What's your weakness?
Um, poison, gaping wounds, the usual stuff. Oh, you wanted specific things? See Question #10

21) How long can you stay under water?
Not very long, only like 2 minutes, and that’s only because of conditioning

22) What do you do on a regular daily basis?
reap souls

23) Do you love someone?
Sure I do, Becah, Rachel, Mr. and Mrs. Garza, the list goes on. However, none of those are love in a romantic way. I love people, but I’m not in love with anyone.

24) When was the last time you wet your self.
…why do you care?

25) What's your favorite band?
Well, in my world the bands you know about don’t exist, but to be completely OOC, Lokki say’s I would like Abney Park, whoever they are

26) Ever worn a dress?
Yes, and it was for all hallow’s eve okay, so shut up

27) Willingly?
again, yes

28) What do you consider fun in the day-time?
hanging out with friends, general tomfoolery

29) At night?
sleeping and not getting told at 2 in the morning that I need to go get rid of a violent poltergeist

30) Ever kissed anyone?
well, no

31) ...Of the same gender?
no.

32) What’s your favorite thing to touch?
I’m sorry, but that just sounds so perverted I can’t even think of something

33) Does anyone love you?
again, not romantically, but I sure hope so

34) Whats your favorite colour?
blue

35) When was the last time you cried?
…can’t remember

36) Do you have a pet?
no, but I have a scythe

37) What did you name your pet?
I haven’t named it. It’s always struck me as a bit stupid to do that.

38) Are you crazy?
not that I know of

39) What are you?
Warren Holloway, a friend, an employee, a hindrance, a help, an intellectual, the youngest reaper to date, an avid reader, a reaper, a… (goes on for 5 more minutes)

40) What´s the end of your own story?
Heck if I know

41) What´s your nickname?
Mmm, I don’t really have one

42) Do you consider yourself a happy or a down person?
I’d say happy

43) What animal would you say is most like you?
I’m going to be self glorifying and say an owl, because they’re smart (or at least they symbol of wisdom) as well as accomplished, deadly and silent hunters. I’m sure though, that everybody I know has reasons and examples of why I’m not any of those things so all of you can stuff it.

44) Tag Some People:
If you're reading this, then you've been tagged

A Grand Tale Indeed

I, Lokii Fish, am going to write a short story this afternoon. Once it is done, I shall post it here for all to view. It shall have in it:

- A character will get dressed
- During it, they will find a long lost relative
- It must have a chimera
- it must involve musical pipes
- it is set during a day off
- It will end in a desecrated temple
- it must involve a trident

All of this is courtesy of Seventh Sanctum's writing challenge generator. Fun place. I suggest you all go have a looksee:
http://www.seventhsanctum.com/

Note: I probably won't finish it this afternoon, but I'll sure as heck will try
Note: There is no guarantee that it will be any good what so ever
...
I'm lazy, okay? If you want someone who actually gets things done, go check out Patience over at Quilted Story
-----------------
EDIT: Okay, this prolly won't be up here for a while actually. Not only had school kicked in, but her sister turned out to not be a compleat air head, and so now she can no longer escape in the middle of the night down the river.

I'm cold, but victorious

I have just come inside from an epic ninja battle with my little brother. He was the rat clan (who had a bunch of natural resources, i.e.- the patio with the grill, table, chairs, smoker..., in their territory) and I was the boar clan (I even gave myself a tattoo) who had a lot of land, but it was all frozen icy tundra. Anyways, we had a peace/friendship treaty, but my people starved and his people did nothing to help, so there was a war. I won. It was pretty awesome. Yeah.
